Lagonda 1939 V12 Sport DHC by Vanden Plas

An amazing barn find that was stored for over fifty years. The car was driven 60 miles to the building where it was dismantled for a full restoration, which was never completed. Construction of the car began on 3-11-39 but was suspended at the outbreak of WWII until work was re-opened on 12-4-39. This information is documented in the book, "Vanden Plas Coachbuilders", by Brian Smith (p 228). An extremely handsome one off body design that should, when restored, become a very competitive show car.
The black and white photo and the one one of the kid on the hood were taken in the early 1970's. It was recently primered in black and gray to give an idea of the vehicle's potential. I have since removed the gray at the bottom.
There is no rust in the body or chassis and the car is 98% complete. The engine was running when last owner started the restoration in 1985, but would probably want to be rebuilt today. The wood sub-frame is very good and was replaced where needed. All the instruments are there, as is the three position top.
I believe the transmission and rear end are fine as they were good order when the restoration started in 1985.
This a car that you would do a complete restoration.
