Upon its public introduction in September 1975, the 1976 Eldorado convertible drew a host of speculators eager to invest in a car that was being billed as an instant collectible. GM announced that the 1976 Eldorado soft top would be its final convertible model for the foreseeable future, even promoting the car as the ""last of a magnificent breed."" Although the body style resurfaced at Cadillac only eight years later, the last of the great 1970s Eldorado convertibles is still viewed as the bookend of an era and an important milestone in American car manufacturing. Also notable as the longest front-wheel drive car of its day, the Eldorado offered standard four-wheel power disc brakes, power steering, steel-belted radial whitewall tires and a leather interior.
This sensational Eldorado convertible was purchased new by Thomas Kerr on March 15, 1976, from Brogan Cadillac of Ridgewood, New Jersey. He fastidiously pursued excellence in his Eldorado, making sure to order a fully-optioned example that included the six-way dual-comfort power passenger 50/50 seat with recliner, AM/FM radio, carpeted rubber floor mats, cruise control, automatic passenger side mirror, heavy-duty cooling system, auto door locks, tilting and telescoping steering wheel, and a hard boot for the convertible top. More significantly, this Eldorado features the optional top-of-the-line fuel-injected version of the 500 cid engine, an induction configuration that lifts power by 25 hp over the base unit and ensures that this grand statement of personal luxury drives as powerfully as its robust appearance suggests.
Since acquiring this first-rate Eldorado, Mr. Kerr has consistently maintained and pampered the car, devotedly ensuring that its mechanical and cosmetic condition remains fresh. I purchased the car in Phoenix, AZ and my son drove it back to California reporting flawless performance during the entire 500 mile drive.
Still finished in its original paint of Cotillion White and featuring its original soft top and red leather interior, this car has never been restored and remains in remarkably unmolested condition. It is accompanied by substantial original documentation, including its window sticker, build sheet, sales invoice, and handbook."
