Sunbeam 1965 Tiger Mk I 260
The Sunbeam Alpine Series I was a charming two-seat British convertible introduced by the Rootes Group in 1959 and intended primarily for the American market. Whiles its styling and handling were very well received, leaders of the Rootes Group, wanted a model with more power. Seeking a solution, the Rootes Group turned to Carroll Shelby to engineer an alternative powered by a V-8. Shelby returned with a Ford 260 V-8 powered Alpine and the Sunbeam Tiger was born.
This California black plate car shows just over 37k miles, which we believe to be true based on service records from the previous owner in Ventura, CA dating back to the mid-70s, as well as the pristine condition of the original gas, brake, and clutch pedals.
It sports an older cosmetic restoration, which is very presentable and entirely rust and accident-free. It was originally finished in #86 Forest/British Racing Green as noted
on the chassis plate.
The car is sports mostly original mechanical components. The original floorboards are perfect and rust-free and still show original insulation and paint.
The trunk compartment is absolutely fantastic, with zero rust and very original. The factory spare tire, jack (as well as original clips for the tools), battery holder, trunk liner, and original tonneau cover are all present.
The car has a factory hard top (missing the rear window), and frame to the soft top.
The previous owner was a long-time California Association of Tiger owners member. According to the Tiger club, this is one of the best examples of a Series I Sunbeam Tiger. A 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mk IA recently sold at Gooding & Co's Scottsdale sale for $148,500.
This fabulous Tiger has undergone a complete service, new tires installed and is ready for the next caring owner to hit the road. $75,000
