Daimler 1939 Straight 8 Sedanca Coupe by Gurney Nutting

1939 Daimler Straight 8 two door Sedanca coupe by Gurney Nutting.   This lovely automobile was displayed from 1967 to 1992 in the Gilmore Museum.  The older restoration is in excellent condition.  The  body by Gurney Nutting is one of a kind.   Gurney Nutting also built two identical bodies that were placed on  4-1/4 litre Bentley chassis.
The development of the Daimler Straight 8 4-1/2 litre engine rivaled its biggest competitor, Bentley.  This 1939 model was one of the last pre-war cars built.  It has all the latest specifications for the period.
Prices for specialized Daimlers have soared in recent years.  The Pebble Beach winning Daimler Double Six was reportedly sold for over $1 million.  The low chassis Double Six, body by Corsica, has recently sold for between $5.5 - 7 million and is being prepared for show at Pebble Beach.
